UN BRINDISI PER L’EUROPA?

In occasione della realizzazione dell'Unione Europea era stato bandito un concorso tra gli illustratori per creare un manifesto che rappresentasse un brindisi alla nuova Europa unita. Oggi, passati 22 anni, l'Europa continua a soffrire di problemi legati soprattutto all'economia e l'Unione Europea risulta essere in qualche modo "monca". Questa situazione di crisi mi ha fatto riflettere e ripensare a quel manifesto e alle motivazioni che mi avevano spinto a crearlo. Ho deciso di proporre una mostra con quel manifesto che oggi rappresenta un contrasto tra passato e presente, tra il vecchio entusiasmo e le molteplici difficoltà nel procedere dell'Europa unita. Ecco la ragione del punto interrogativo. Oltre al manifesto nel corso della mostra ci sarà anche una installazione a sorpresa Interpretazione dell'immagine sta nella capacità dello spettatore di percepire il significato del manifesto. Allora non aveva bisogno di commenti. Oggi, con quel punto di domanda, nemmeno.

A toast for Europe? On the occasion of the creation of the European Union a competition was set up for illustrators to create a poster that represented a toast for a new united Europe. Today, after 22 years, Europe continues to suffer from problems connected, above all, to the economy and the European Union has turned out to be a bit "lacking" in several areas. This situation - of crisis - has encouraged me to reflect a bit and to rethink through that poster and the reasons that drove me to create it. I have decided to hold an exhibition with that poster, representing, as it does today, a contrast between past and present, old enthusiasms and myriad difficulties in striving ahead with the European Union. This is why there is a question mark. As well as the poster, during the exhibition there will also be a surprise installation. The interpretation of the image lies in the ability of the spectator to perceive the significance of the poster. Then, it needed no comment. Today, with that question mark, it still needs no comment.
